India vs South Africa 2nd Test Day 1 Highlights: South Africa were all out for 55 after which India collapsed on 153 after being 153/4 on a ridiculous Day 1.

India vs South Africa 2nd Test Day 1 Highlights: South Africa being all out for 55 should have been the most extraordinary event of this day, or even this series. It ended up becoming a footnote after India’s innings unraveled inside 11 balls of the third session of the first day. The visitors went from being 153/4 at the start of the 34th over to 153 all out with a ball to go in the 36th. It started with Lungi Ngidi breaking the partnership between KL Rahul and Virat Kohli by dismissing the former off the second ball of the 34th and then dismissing Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah for ducks. Then Kohli fell to Rabada off the first ball of the next over on 46 after which Siraj was run out after a mix-up with Prasidh Krishna. Krishna himself then fell to Rabada off the fifth ball of that over.

Earlier, Siraj kickstarted the new year with his career-best figures in Test cricket on Wednesday. Siraj got six wickets inside nine overs as South Africa suffered a shocking batting collapse on Day 1 of the 2nd Test at Newlands. Siraj forced South Africa to record its lowest-ever total of 55 runs since the red-ball readmission of the Proteas. As many as 20 wickets fell in the first day with a couple of hours still left in the third session. It is the most that have fallen in a single day of Test cricket in Cape Town. India had a lead of 98 before they fell in a heap. Mukesh Kumar then picked two and Bumrah took one as South Africa ended the day on 62/3, trailing India by 36 runs.
