IPL 2024 RCB vs SRH Highlights: Royal Challengers Bengaluru fans may have seen reason to hope with their captain Faf du Plessis finally winning a toss and choosing to bowl. However, Sunrisers Hyderabad put up what has to be the most extraordinary display of power hitting ever seen in the IPL. They broke their own record for highest ever IPL score by setting up a score of 287/3.

Such was the start that Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to the home fans may have already lost hope before the match was 10 overs old. Travis Head powered a 108-run opening partnership that came in just 49 balls as he scored a half-century inside the powerplay. Abhishek Sharma fell to Reece Topley in the eighth over on 34 off 22 and that brought the opening partnership to an end. However, SRH seem determined to continue the carnage as they promoted Heinrich Klaasen to No.3. The carnage never stopped and Klaasen smashed 67 in 31 balls. Abdul Samad then hit an unbeaten 37 in the 10 balls that he faced to take SRH past their own record score of 277.

RCB got off to a fantastic start in the chase, even outscoring SRH in the powerplay by scoring 79 runs. Virat Kohli smashed 42 in 20 balls while Faf du Plessis scored 62 in 28. It was Dinesh Karthik, however, who really made sure that RCB are not humiliated at their own home by scoring 83 in 35 balls. All these contributions meant that RCB ended with a score of 262/7, just one run behind their own highest ever IPL total of 263/5 which they had scored against the Pune Warriors in 2013. Chris Gayle had scored an unbeaten 175 off 66 balls in that game and RCB had won it by 130 runs. This time, they lost by 25 runs.
