Pakistan\u2019s opening batter Ahmed Shehzad believes Babar Azam\u2019s downfall in international cricket is because of his comparisons with India\u2019s star cricketer Virat Kohli. The former captain has suffered a slump in his recent form during the recently concluded ODI series against the West Indies. The batter ended up scoring just 56 runs in three matches, with scores of 0 and nine in the second and third match respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While speaking to GeoSuper, Shehzad called the comparisons between Azam and Kohli unfair and talked about the difficulty and pressure that batters have to face when being compared. As per Shehzad, Kohli\u2019s career is incomparable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhen everything was going well, you were running campaigns comparing players,\u201d Shehzad said. \u201cNow that the performances are not coming, you are saying \u2018don\u2019t compare two players\u2019. Why not? Virat Kohli\u2019s comparison cannot be made with anyone in the world. He is a legend of this generation, a role model. You cannot compare him even with MS Dhoni. Dhoni may have been a great captain, but as a batter, cricketer, and athlete, Kohli stands alone. No one should be compared with anyone because it\u2019s unfair and it adds extra pressure, which we are now seeing on Babar Azam\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since the 2023 Asia Cup against Nepal, Babar hasn\u2019t scored a century in the following 72 matches played across formats and was left out from Pakistan\u2019s T20I squad against the West Indies.
