The BCCI have amended playing conditions, allowing \u201cserious injury replacements\u201d for multi-day tournaments like Duleep Trophy and Ranji Trophy. They have sent detailed documents about the playing conditions to state associations, but this being an extended weekend with offices closed, some state bodies aren\u2019t yet aware of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If a player sustains a serious injury during the course of a match, an injury replacement might be permitted. This is as per the amended playing conditions, and is historic. This had been introduced in the wake of Rishabh Pant\u2019s foot injury during the fourth Test between England and India at Old Trafford last month, that had rendered him hors de combat. In the final Test at The Oval, Chris Woakes suffered a shoulder injury mid-game and had to come out to bat in the second innings with his arm in a sling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Opinions, however, are divided on injury replacements in international cricket. India\u2019s head coach Gautam Gambhir is in favour of it, while England\u2019s Test captain Ben Stokes has rejected the idea.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
