Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar asserted that Virat Kohli is not at all finished after the batter registered two ducks in the ongoing ODI series against Australia, saying the former captain still has a lot of cricket left in him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking to Sports Tak, Gavaskar expressed optimism about Kohli getting a big score in the third ODI, in what could be his final international appearance at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLook, the man has more than 14,000 runs, 52 ODI centuries, and I think 32 Test centuries,\u201d the former India opener said. \u201cHe\u2019s scored thousands and thousands of runs, so he\u2019s allowed a couple of failures. Don\u2019t read too much into what has happened \u2014 there\u2019s plenty of cricket left, plenty of cricket ahead. Maybe Sydney will see a big innings from him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kohli\u2019s return to competitive cricket after the IPL has been disappointing, as the veteran Indian batter recorded two consecutive ducks in Australia \u2014 a country where he had never registered a score of zero in his entire ODI career. The 36-year-old batter has retired from the other two formats of the game, and there has been much discussion about whether he and Rohit Sharma will be able to make it to the ICC World Cup 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gavaskar believes that both batting stalwarts will play in the 2027 World Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cVirat Kohli is not the type of player who will give up this easily. Do you really think he will retire after scores of 0 and 0? Absolutely not. He will aim to retire on a high note. There is the Sydney game ahead, followed by the ODI series at home against South Africa, and there are a lot of ODIs left.
