South Africa\u2019s Senuran Muthusamy reflected on his maiden Test century against India in Guwahati saying his focus was to help the team post a big first innings total.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Drafted into the playing XI in place of Corbin Bosch, Muthusamy justified his selection by scoring hundred while batting at number 7. By doing so, he also became the first Test centurion at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium. During his innings he was involved in two important partnerships which were instrumental in taking the team to 489. With Kyle Verreynne, the southpaw added 88 runs for the seventh wicket, while with Marco Jansen, he added 97 runs for the eighth wicket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt was a really special moment in front of this full house,\u201d said an elated Muthusamy after end of day 2. \u201cI\u2019m just glad that I could contribute to the team and really put some runs on the board in the first innings, which is always important. It (plan) was just to build partnerships and to really try and extend the innings and then score runs in between. I think Scholesy (Verreynne) did really well today and Marco was special. And the other guys chipped in as well, which was awesome,\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Muthusamy held one end and Jansen went after the bowling from the start, scoring 93 off 91 which included seven sixes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
