Speaking on his YouTube channel, De Villiers said: \u201cI do agree with him to a certain extent. I\u2019ve always enjoyed a floating batting lineup in ODIs. But it\u2019s a fine line because you can\u2019t really play around too much with the players\u2019 roles. It\u2019s the top three, four to six, and then your tailenders who can hold the bat. It\u2019s almost like three segments, and you can really be creative with that. Play with right- and left-hand combinations and certain situations of the game.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
India have tried many experiments with the batting order after Gambhir became the coach. For example, in the recently finished ODI series against South Africa, stand-in captain KL Rahul was given a new role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
De Villiers also praised India\u2019s performance in T20Is, and the former South African batter believes that it is because of the depth of the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt has been incredible, especially for a T20 format. It\u2019s the most volatile format of the three, and to have that kind of consistency tells you there must be something going on that\u2019s heading in the right direction. I think it\u2019s got to do with the depth of Indian cricket,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
