Former India captain Rohit Sharma recently opened up about his feelings after India\u2019s loss to Australia in the final of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking at a Masters\u2019 Union event, Rohit admitted that it took him some time to move on from the hangover of that heartbreaking defeat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAfter 2023 World Cup final, I was completely distraught and felt like I didn\u2019t want to play this sport anymore because it had taken everything out of me and I felt I had nothing left. It took some time and I kept reminding myself that this is something I truly love, that it was right in front of me, and I couldn\u2019t let it go so easy. Slowly, I found my way back, regaining the energy and getting myself moving again on the field.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
India had a dream run in the 2023 World Cup, winning all their matches under Rohit\u2019s leadership except the final, where Australia defeated them comfortably by six wickets despite losing three early wickets. The defeat shocked the entire nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEverybody was extremely disappointed, and we just couldn\u2019t believe what had happened. It was a very tough time for me personally because I had put everything into that World Cup not just two or three months before it, but ever since I took over the captaincy in 2022. My only goal was to win the World Cup, whether it was the T20 World Cup or the 2023 World Cup. So when it didn\u2019t happen, I was completely devastated. There was no energy left in my body. It took me a couple of months to recover and bring myself back.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
