England\u2019s star batter Joe Root was pleased with the way his team mounted a comeback by winning the fourth Test after being 3\u20130 down in the ongoing five-match Ashes series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYeah, well, obviously losing the series is very disappointing, but I think it was really important that we showed a lot of character for the rest of the series. There\u2019s been a lot thrown at this team, and the way we\u2019ve responded over these two days has been excellent,\u201d Root said in a video shared by BBC\u2019s Test Match Special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
England won the low-scoring match inside two days by four wickets. Having won the toss, England opted to field first. Both teams\u2019 innings concluded on the opening day, with Australia scoring 152 and England replying with 110.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the second innings, Australia were bundled out for 132, and England chased down the target with four wickets to spare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking about the pitch at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), which has been criticised by many experts, Root said: \u201cClearly, it was a very fast-forward Test match with the surface we were presented with, but I think we adapted to it as much as we could and exploited it when we had the opportunities. We showed a bit of bravery in the way we approached things with the bat, and that\u2019s why we won the Test match.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
