Australian young all-rounder Lucy Hamilton made an impressive debut in her Women\u2019s Premier League journey with an impactful performance for Delhi Capitals against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Navi Mumbai on January 17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reflecting on her first WPL match, during the post-match press conference, Hamilton said, \u201cIt was really special to get that opportunity and be out there for my first game. Obviously, making your debut is always a big moment, and from where we were early on, the message was just to keep fighting and take it as deep as we possibly could. I was just trying to stay calm, back my strengths and do whatever I could for the team in that situation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Delhi Capitals were struggling at 10\/4. Batting at number nine, Hamilton scored a quick 36 off 19 balls, which included three boundaries and three sixes at a strike rate of 189.47. Her aggressive approach helped Delhi post a fighting total of 166 runs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking about batting alongside Shafali Verma, who also scored 62 as an opener, Hamilton said, \u201cWith Shafali, it was mainly about clear communication and rotating the strike. She was striking the ball incredibly well, so the plan was to get her on strike as much as possible and just support her at the other end. From being 10 for 4 to putting up a total like that showed a lot of character and fight from the group.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With this loss, Delhi remain at the bottom of the table with just one win from four matches. RCB, on the other hand, are still undefeated in the tournament and sit comfortably at the top of the table.
